Bead release is used to coat steel mandrels so that when you are making glass beads, the molten glass does do not stick to the steel mandrels.
This Smooth & Tough made by Foster Fire can be air or flame dried before using in the flame. It can be used for (Hard Glass) borosilicate or pyrex as well as (soft glass) Some Soft Glass Examples are, Lauscha, Moretti, Ornela, Vetrofond, Bullseye, Uroboros, etc.. .
I Have used every bead release on the market. I was hooked on Foster Fire for some time, I liked both the Regular and Heavy Duty Formulas. When Foster Fire came out with this new Smooth and Tuff I was amazed and truly don't think anyone can make a better bead release but I would still try any new products on the market as I give all lampworking products a fair shot., I only sell what I considert to be the very best.
This Release does not break up easily on the mandrel when winding molten glass around your coated steel mandrel as some of the releases do. Thats makes me crazy when your bead is a nice shape, etc and then the release starts flaking at the corners, eeeeeh..
You'll appreciate this New Smooth & Tuff also created by Foster Fire. It's a different type of smooth, like velvet. If it's a little thick and does not wrap itself right around your mandrel perfectly, you just add a wee bit of water to the jar and stir it up, it comes right back to being a perfect consistency every time.
Another great feature is the cleaning of your beads after you take them off the mandrel, The Nice smooth consistency distributes itself nice and even on the steel mandrel so when you clean with a bead cleaner of any sort, it does a really nice even job. I truly don't think there will be a better release than this one on the market in the future, I really like the way this behaves and so will you. It's a few dollars more but well worth it for the ease of use in all applications. It lasts longer because it does not get all clumped up, you really don't waste much of it.
